Anglepoise Live Brief Worksheet :

Research:
The live brief was set by anglepoise therefore i found the most appropriate and best step to take towards taking a good picture of the lamp would be to research anglepoise and other related lamp sellers to see how the framed and presented their shots and which compositions worked best in expressing what they wanted to see.
By looking at the various accounts with multiple shots and shooting styles i was able to identify how they portrayed their products and how they did it.
Anglepoise

Anglepoise shots were usually framed in a way in which the central focus of the shot was the lamp itself and the rest of the items in the shot complemented the lamp and helped to make it stand out even more ,even though the shot styles were very simplistic they told alot about the lamp in terms of its portability and other unique selling points.
Amongst all the shots the ones below are some of my favourites because of how they are framed and how much they are able to portray a lot through simple sets and efficient framing which shows only what is required and nothing unnecessary ,that would distract the viewer .
One shot was framed with just the lamp and nothing else which made the lamp look elegant and useful on its own while others showed the lamp in use for different purposes such as reading or just for lighting .
Rueduluminaire
This is another company which sells lamps and other kinds of lighting and the way they portray their lamps differ depending on where and what the lamp is used for which gave me a pretty good idea of how the lamp can be portrayed to reflect its portability and also how powerful it is using the surroundings and location to my advantage without making the shot cluttered and too jumbled even though there are many props in the frame.

Svecha.kiev.ua
Svecha is a foreign lamp business's Instagram page in which they display their many different lamps and of all the different businesses and pages I've researched their images were the most simplistic with the majority of pictures being their lamps against a plain background or of their lamp with the background slightly out of focus therefore forcing the viewer to pay attention to only one thing within the shots which was their lamp.

Production Process:
When beginning this phase i had a very clear shot setup and outcome in mind ,because of the multiple pictures from photographers i viewed when researching i had gotten a clear understanding and idea of the picture i wanted to create and a good idea in mind of how to achieve it ,because the photographers that i liked the most used simplistic shots in which they were able to show and portray the feeling and idea behind the image i also decided to take a similar shot after being inspired by these photographers.
The first shot would be of the lamp non its own and i would like this shot to be framed in a way in which the lamp is the centre of the entire image and the rest of the image will be illuminated by the powerful light emitting from the lamp which would not only show how powerful it is but also displaying how portable it is by it being in a place where a lamp would normally not be able to be used.
The second shot i would like to take would be the lamp in use and I would like the lamp to be at an angle where its light creates a soft glow against a wall while being used by a person drawing with the majority of the light centred on a book to not only show how powerful the lamp is but to show the quality of light is not overpowering to the point where it affects the user but also powerful enough to be efficient and complete the task it was intended to do.
Behind The Scenes:
All pictures will be taken using my phone which is a Samsung galaxy 8 that will be set manually .The rear camera which i would be using is a 12MP dual pixel and would be manually set to ISO 1250 ,shutter speed of 0.3 and the focus would be set to auto since the camera would be placed on a timer and placed on a tripod.
I would be using a ring light borrowed from another student on my course (Shoheb Naz Miah) in order to light the background .
The shots were taken in different locations and therefore different gear was used however all the gear used can be found below ,the positioning and angles of the lamp varied from place to place to find the most appropriate and optimal position to achieve the shot that i wanted.
Gear Used:
Preliminary shots:
Below are just some of the shots which were taken at different places ,times and locations to have as many options and shots as possible to find which shot would portray the lamps features and portability as best as possible however all shots are not shown and these are a select few which I have picked out due to the fact that there were so many.
Editing Process:
These images were not edited much as i wanted to maintain their natural aspect and keep it as close to the original as possible because these shows were taken in a way to show that the lamp could be used anywhere and at anytime therefore they were taken at golden hour when the natural lighting is very interesting and makes a sort of soft glow on the surrounding therefore they were only taken to Photoshop express and cropped to be of a more appropriate framing and removing unnecessary bits from the picture.

Evaluation:
In conclusion i think that the blog contains a clear and well outlined step by step as to what was done and how the result was approached and arrived at ,there weren't too many problems encountered throughout the process however better equipment could have been used and a more professional editing style to make the image even more detailed and also to make it a higher standard in general .
If i was to do this assignment again i would try to secure a good camera and better kit to use for the duration it will be completed and in addition to that i will try to learn more editing skills and become more accustomed to editing software so that the result would be of the highest quality .In addition to that i will try to carry out the process in a more professional way .
The process itself went smoothly and everything was completed in a very flexible time frame which left me enough time to make small tweaks and adjustments as time went by and i got better at editing therefore making me refine my final artefacts from time to time.
Taking the lamp around from place to place was a a bit risky considering that some of the shots that i wanted to take were in places where the lamp could fall ,in addition to that getting the lamp was difficult at times because it was highly demanded due to the amount of persons who wanted it and the amount of lamps that were available through the university.
